Spare parts for the maker's own tents and pumps, sold by model name

Parts, not products

Nothing under this badge on the site is a tent, a stove or a filter. Both entries are consumables and spares — the pieces you order in year two, when the sheet has worn through or the cartridge has done its work. That makes compatibility the only field that really matters, and it is the field both listings fill in properly.

The footprint names five tents

Rather than leaving you to compare floor plans, the universal footprint states the tents it suits outright: the Hubba Hubba, the FreeLite 2, the Carbon Reflex 2, the Access 2 and the Thru Hiker Mesh House 2. Five models, named. On a shelf where most sheets are sold on a size and a hope, that is about as unambiguous as a compatibility statement gets, and it is the reason to buy this one if you own any of the five.

What the footprint does not say

Its size is published only in inches — Regular, 82 by 48 — with no metric figure anywhere on the listing, which on a European marketplace is an obstacle rather than a rounding error. Beyond that, the sheet is barely described at all: no fabric, no denier, no hydrostatic head, no coating, no weight and no packed size. And no attachment points, so nothing says whether it shares the tent’s peg points or is simply laid underneath.

The cartridge is shorter still

The replacement element for the Guardian pump purifier names the pump in its title and again in its first bullet, and that is close to the whole listing. No pore rating, no rated capacity, no flow figure, no thread standard, no cleaning method. Two of its four bullets read Unisex and One Size, which are clothing fields rather than cartridge fields. There is a defence for a page this short — it makes no claim it cannot support, which is more than several talkative listings on the same shelf manage — but it means the specification has to come from the manual rather than from the page, and there is no way to price a litre of filtering from what is published. As with every filter here, nothing on this site treats a cartridge as making a water source safe to drink.

  • MSR Guardian replacement cartridge for a pump water purifier

MSR replacement cartridge for the Guardian pump purifier

Four bullets, one of which names the pump it belongs to and three of which say nothing — five of the six columns here left blank, and the one that is filled is the one that decides.

    • Names the pump it belongs to in the title and again in the bullets, which is the one field a spare part cannot leave blank
    • Sold as the maker’s own cartridge for its own purifier, so the fit is the maker’s statement rather than an inference
    • Five of the six columns this hub compares are empty, matched here only by the under-sink cartridge

Best for: Guardian pump owners buying the maker’s own cartridge, with the specification looked up in the manual rather than on the listing.
