The best sleeping bag liners for 2026

A liner does two jobs — it keeps body oils out of a down bag that cannot be washed often, and it adds a layer — and it works only if the shape matches the bag. A rectangular liner inside a mummy bag concertinas around the legs; a mummy liner in a rectangular bag pulls the corners in. Take the length and shoulder width from the bag specification, and check whether the liner has a shaped foot box. Fabric is the real decision. Silk is the lightest and the smallest packed, and it is delicate. Cotton is heavy, cheap and comfortable, and is what hostels ask for. Polyester microfibre and CoolMax dry fast and cost little. Fleece is much warmer and much bulkier. Where a maker states that a liner adds a number of degrees, that is the manufacturer's own claim, quoted here as such — it depends on the bag, the mat and the sleeper, and no standard governs it. Check the closure, since a zipped liner is far easier to get out of. We compare shape and dimensions, fabric, stated weight and packed size, any added warmth the maker claims, closure type, and washing instructions.

The ones worth packing

  1. YARVPUV lightweight travel sleeping bag liner with a full-length zip and a pillow pocket

    YARVPUV travel liner, 220 × 90 cm, 512 g stated

The heaviest of the seven liners here at a stated 512 g, and the one that turns into a full 220 × 180 cm blanket once the zip is run all the way round.

    Shape
Not published on the listing — neither mummy nor rectangular is named; the maker states only that the liner opens out flat as a blanket
    Dimensions
    220 × 90 cm as a liner — stated; 220 × 180 cm opened out flat as a blanket — stated
    Fabric
100 per cent ultrafine fibres — stated; the fibre itself is never named, so neither silk, cotton nor polyester is confirmed
    Stated weight
512 g — stated, in the title and again in the first bullet
    Packed size
    22 × 22 × 5 cm — stated
    Added warmth the maker claims
Not published on the listing — no degree figure and no warmth claim of any kind appears in the title or the five bullets
    Closure type
A zip that opens completely — stated; the listing does not say which side it runs on
    Washing instructions
Machine washable — stated, with a claim that it neither loses shape nor fades; no temperature is given
    Amazon reference
B0DPB2YCL5 (same reference on 5 Amazon marketplaces)
    EAN
    0702602625628
    • Publishes weight, made-up size and packed size all three, which several liners on this shelf do not
    • The zip runs the whole way round, so the same piece is a liner or a stated 220 × 180 cm blanket
    • At a stated 512 g it is the heaviest of the seven liners here, against 128 g at the other end of the shelf

Best for: Hut and hostel nights where the liner doubles as the only blanket you carry, and where 512 g in the pack is not the number that decides.

    Naturehike ultralight liner, 210 × 80 cm, about 128 g

The lightest of the seven liners here at a stated 128 g, packed to 6 × 15 cm, and the listing never once says how it closes.

    Shape
Not published on the listing — neither mummy nor rectangular is named anywhere in the title or the five bullets
    Dimensions
    80 × 210 cm opened out — stated, and also given as 31.5 × 82.7 in

    Packed size
    6 × 15 cm — stated, and also given as 2.4 × 5.9 in
    Added warmth the maker claims
No figure. The maker states the liner can improve the warmth and comfort of a sleeping bag; no number of degrees is published and no standard is named
    Closure type
Not published on the listing — a zip is mentioned only when the washing label is described, and nothing says how the liner itself opens or shuts
    Washing instructions
Machine washable — stated, with a washing label sewn where it will not catch; no temperature is given
    Amazon reference
B0CRKNGVS9 (same reference on 5 Amazon marketplaces)
    EAN

    • Both figures are repeated in imperial as well as metric, so nothing has to be converted or guessed
    • No closure is described at all, so it is unclear whether there is a zip, a tie or nothing

Best for: Counting grams on a summer trek, where the liner is there for hygiene and the bag is doing all the insulating.

  3. Backpacker's Journey blue microfibre sleeping bag liner beside its compression sack

    Backpacker's Journey microfibre travel liner, 220 × 90 cm

The only liner in this hub that publishes a wash temperature, and the only one that publishes its weight twice with two different numbers.

    Shape
Not published on the listing — neither mummy nor rectangular is named; a pillow pocket is described, and nothing else about the cut
    Dimensions
220 × 90 cm — stated, and called a comfort size by the maker

100 per cent microfibre — stated in the bullets; the title separately gives the material as polyester
    Stated weight
The listing publishes two figures — 168 g in the title and 186 g in the first bullet — and does not say which of them includes the compression sack
    Packed size
14 × 7 cm including the compression sack — stated
    Added warmth the maker claims
Not published on the listing — the bullets claim hygiene, breathability and tear resistance, and never mention warmth

    Amazon reference
B09MMDQXJ4 (same reference on 5 Amazon marketplaces)
    EAN
    4260619850038
    • Publishes a wash temperature, which no other liner in this hub does
    • The packed size is given with the compression sack counted in, not as a bare cloth measurement
    • Two different weights on the same listing, 168 g and 186 g, with nothing to say which is which

Best for: Hostel and hut stays where the liner is washed often and the 30 °C figure is the one you actually need.

  4. Miqio 2in1 travel sleeping bag liner opened out flat as a large blanket

    Miqio 2-in-1 liner and 180 × 200 cm blanket

A liner sold as two products: a 90 × 220 cm sleeve, or a 180 × 200 cm double blanket once the full-perimeter zip is opened, with the zip side chosen at purchase.

    Shape
Not published on the listing as mummy or rectangular — the maker calls it 2-in-1 and gives a 90 × 220 cm sleeve that opens to a 180 × 200 cm blanket, and states the sleeve suits side sleepers
    Dimensions
    90 × 220 cm as a liner — stated; 180 × 200 cm opened flat, described as double bed size — stated
    Fabric
Not published on the listing — the material is named only as Cotton Touch, and the maker states it is not cotton and dries faster than cotton; no fibre is named
    Stated weight
    390 g — stated
    Packed size
Not published on the listing — a transport bag with a mesh panel is described so that damp can escape, and no dimensions are given for it
    Added warmth the maker claims
Not published on the listing — the maker positions it for hot countries where even a light sleeping bag would be too warm, which is the opposite claim
    Closure type
A full-perimeter zip that opens completely, supplied left hand or right hand and chosen at purchase — stated
    Washing instructions
Washable, and stated to dry fast enough to be washed while travelling; no temperature and no machine or hand instruction is given
    Amazon reference
B0744L8FKW (same reference on 6 Amazon marketplaces)
    EAN
    4260524230512
    • The zip runs the whole perimeter, so the same piece is a sleeve or a stated 180 × 200 cm double blanket
    • Left-hand and right-hand versions are offered, which matters if two are being used side by side
    • Cotton Touch is a trade name, not a fibre, and the listing never says what the cloth actually is

Best for: Warm-country travel where a light sleeping bag would already be too much, and where the same piece has to serve two people as a blanket.

    • Publishes a packed size and a compression sack together, so the 10 × 20 cm figure is the real one
    • A stated 480 g, second heaviest of the seven here, which is the price of the cotton
