TrailVerdict is a participant in the Amazon Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.
What it means at the button
Each "Check price on Amazon" button on this site is an affiliate link. Follow one, order a stove or a sleeping mat, and Amazon pays us a share of what you spent. Your price is the price you would have paid arriving at Amazon by any other route.
The links point inside this site first, and the page they reach hands you on to the Amazon store of the country you are reading from. A reader in France therefore ends up on amazon.fr and a reader in Germany on amazon.de, each carrying the affiliate tag that belongs to that store. It is also the reason every one of those links is marked rel="nofollow sponsored": the link is advertising, and search engines are told exactly that.
The pull this creates, and what holds against it
Because the commission is a share of the sale, an expensive down bag is worth more to us than a bag of tent pegs. Three things built into the site pull the other way, and you can check each of them rather than take our word:
- No ranking here is sequenced by what a product earns, and none has ever been reshuffled because one item pays better than another. Where the honest answer is the cheapest thing on the page — or a habit worth learning rather than a purchase, such as backflushing the cartridge already in the pack — that is what the page says.
- Several of the recommendations we make most firmly cost under twenty euros, and a number of the products covered here are not the ones we point people at first. Neither price nor commission sets the order.
- Where a reference cannot be confirmed on the Amazon store of your own country, the link goes to a search there instead of to a product page that may not exist — which earns us less and costs you nothing.
What we never do
Nothing here is for sale: not a placement, not a rank, not favourable coverage. No content on this site is sponsored. A recommendation is not swapped because something went out of stock or because a different model would pay better — it cannot pay better, which is the whole point.
Prices
A live price shown on this site is drawn from Amazon's price history for your own market and held for a few hours before it is fetched again. Prices move constantly, and the only figure that decides anything is the one on Amazon at the moment you order. Any price band written into a review is indicative, and no more than that.
