What this listing puts on record
Ten hinged aluminium alloy panels with a polished surface, opening out to a stated 84 cm, folding to a stated 21.5 x 10 x 2 cm, weighing a stated 270 g and supplied in a drawstring bag. Latches at both ends let shields be joined to each other.
The stoves it names, and the one it names in passing
Most windshields in this hub say gas stove, camping stove, barbecue and leave it there. This one starts with wood and alcohol stoves — burners with the fuel in the burner rather than in a canister beneath it, which is the case a full wrap suits best. The alcohol burner reviewed on this site is exactly that shape.
Then the same bullet adds pocket rockets, which are upright canister stoves. Nothing on the listing repeats the caution their own makers generally print about enclosing a canister. This page will not put words in a maker’s mouth in either direction: the shield says what it says, and the stove’s manual is the document that decides whether it may be used that way.
84 cm open, 21.5 x 10 x 2 cm folded, 270 g. That is a length, a pack size and a weight — more than half this hub manages. What none of them gives is the panel height, and height is what decides whether the shield reaches the rim of the pot or shelters only the burner. Two of the folded figures could be it. The maker never says which.
What the latches do
They join shields to each other, and the maker is explicit that a larger burner wants two of them. They are not ground anchors. On an exposed pitch this shield is held down by what you put against it.
Before ordering
Set 84 cm against the burner you actually own, and remember the maker’s own advice that a wider stove wants two shields. Then read your stove’s manual on what may be placed around it, and follow that rather than anything printed on a shield’s packaging.
