Two rules for topographic maps — stated. Scale — not stated. This is the only compass here besides the CTDMJ to admit that a compass touches a map, and it is the one that stops a word short of being useful.

A rule with no scale is a straight edge. Whether it measures a kilometre at 1:25 000 or at 1:50 000 changes what it is for, and the listing will not say. You would find out with the compass in your hand and a sheet on the table.

Liquid damping, named
