Tarps, reservoirs and dry bags with a denier on the page and a closure left undescribed
Unigear appears on hydration bladders, on tarps and shelters, and on dry bags. Different products, written by what looks like the same hand: strong on fabric, generous with lists of what is in the box, and consistently vague about closures and seams.
The tarp is the clearest example. It publishes 210D Oxford with a silver inner coating and a PU treatment, a PU 3000 mm hydrostatic head, and a tie-out count for every size it sells — eight loops on the 3 by 3 m, eighteen on the 3 by 4 m, nineteen on the 3 by 5 m, sixteen on the 4.4 by 4.4 m. Six guylines of 4 m and six aluminium pegs are stated as supplied, in their own bag. The dry bag publishes 500D PVC. The reservoir names its film as food-grade TPU and states that it is free of both BPA and BPS, rather than stopping at the shorter claim.
Then the same blank reappears from page to page. The dry bag never says how its top closes, so the number of rolls that makes the seal cannot be checked, and no seam treatment or water rating is published to sit behind the 500D. The reservoir gives no bite valve, no fill port width and nothing at all about its seams, which is where a bladder gives way. The tarp publishes no tie-out reinforcement — the part that takes every kilogram of tension — and no weight.
The reservoir listing does not agree with itself on which sizes exist. Its title offers 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 and 3 litres; a bullet further down offers 2, 2.5 and 3. Both versions are printed on our page for that product because the disagreement is the maker’s and we do not resolve it on their behalf. The tarp has a version of the same problem: the tie-out counts are published per size, and the listing never states which size it is selling, so the count cannot be attached to what you are paying. On both pages, settle the question with the seller before the order goes in.
