EZORKAS LANTERN KJ-1290 COB lantern, 2-pack review

The only lantern in this group that takes either a charge or three AA cells — two lamps, a collapsible body and three magnets on the base, with no lumen figure anywhere.

On the maker’s own page

A two-pack of camping lanterns, collapsible, with COB bulbs.

EZORKAS states that the latest COB bulbs offer ultra-bright light with 360-degree coverage and four lighting modes, including a flashlight and a red warning light with strobe and SOS; that the lantern is rechargeable by USB cable and also takes 3 × AA batteries, not included, so two ways of supplying power are available; that it is water-resistant thanks to its ABS military material and COB bulb; a collapsible design where pushing and pulling the handle turns the lantern on and off, usable as a flashlight, lifted as a lantern or hung on a tree, with three strong magnets on the base; and two lamps with two cables and 24-month support.

No lumens. No runtime. No color temperature. No IP code. No weight.

A charge, or three AA cells

The only lamp in this group that does both.

This shelf’s introduction sets out the fork and says it is the one people regret. A sealed pack recharges over USB and doubles as a power bank, until the cells age and the lantern becomes disposable. Replaceable cells weigh more and cost more over time, and they can be bought in any village shop and swapped in the dark.

This one does not make the choice. The pack runs it; three AAs run it when the pack is flat and there is no socket.

The AAs are not in the box.

Three magnets

Where a hook cannot go.

A car bonnet, a tent pole fitting, a toolbox, a bike frame. The introduction above says a lantern on the ground lights the ground, and the fittings in this group are hooks, a handle and a removable clip — nothing else has magnets.

For working under a car at night, a magnet is what frees both hands.

No lumens, no runtime

The pair this shelf is built on, both absent.

“The latest COB bulbs offer ultra-bright lights” is the whole output claim.

A COB emitter spreads light along a strip rather than from a point, so the 360-degree claim is plausible. Plausible is not a figure, and the introduction above asks for two.

ABS military material

Not an ingress rating.

The listing says the lamp is water-resistant because of its material and its bulb, and that it adapts to hurricane and rainstorm weather.

This shelf’s introduction asks for an IPX rating saying whether it can hang outside in rain. Five lamps in this group publish a code — IP68 to 1.5 m (5 ft), IP67, IP45, IPX5. This one publishes a material.

EZORKAS’s instructions carry the cells and the charging. Nothing here replaces them, and nothing on this page describes any product as safe.

What it does well, and where it gives way

Strengths

  • The only lantern in this group that takes either a charge or replaceable cells
  • Three magnets on the base, which no other lamp here offers
  • A collapsible body where pulling the handle switches the light on
  • Four modes including a red strobe and an SOS
  • Two lamps in the pack
  • Usable as a torch, stood as a lantern, or hung from the handle
  • A 24-month support statement in the listing

Compromises

  • No lumen figure at all, on a shelf this shelf's introduction says is sold on lumens
  • No runtime at any of its four modes
  • No IP rating — "water-resistant due to its ABS military material" is not a code
  • No color temperature and no weight published
  • The AA cells are not included, so the fallback supply is a separate purchase
  • Six of the nine figures this shelf compares are absent

What people ask before buying

Why does a dual supply matter?

It is the fork this shelf's introduction says people regret. A sealed lithium pack recharges over USB and often doubles as a power bank, which is convenient until the cells age and the whole lantern becomes disposable; replaceable cells weigh more and cost more over time, but they can be bought in any village shop and swapped in the dark. This is the only lamp in this group that does not make you choose: the built-in pack runs it normally, and three AA cells run it when the pack is flat and there is no socket. The AAs are not in the box.

What do the magnets do?

They put the light where a hook cannot. Three magnets on the base stick the lamp to a car bonnet, a tent pole fitting, a toolbox or a bike frame — which this shelf's introduction makes the point of, since a lantern on the ground lights the ground. No other lamp in this group has magnets; the alternatives here are hooks, a handle and a removable clip. For working under a car or in a boot at night, a magnet is the fitting that frees both hands.

How bright is it?

The listing does not say. "The latest COB bulbs offer ultra-bright lights" is the whole output claim, and no lumen figure, color temperature or runtime appears anywhere. That is the central absence on this shelf: this shelf's introduction opens on lumens and runtime as the pair that matters, and this listing publishes neither half. A COB emitter spreads its light over a strip rather than a point, which is why the 360-degree claim is plausible — but plausible is not a figure.
